Preparation
Surfaces must be solid, clean, dry, and free from dust, dirt, grease, or other contaminants that could affect paint adhesion.
- Remove any existing flaking paint, loose particles, or damaged mortar. Fill cracks and repair any damaged pointing.
- If the surface shows signs of efflorescence (white crystalline deposits), brush it off thoroughly and apply a coat of Alkali-Resisting Primer, allowing it to dry completely before painting.
- No primer is required if fresh mortar has been used in pointing or when painting new brickwork.
- For previously painted surfaces, apply the paint to a small test area to ensure compatibility. Incompatible surfaces may result in flaking.
- Do not apply to surfaces with persistent dampness. All sources of moisture must be resolved before painting.
Application
- Use a large brush to apply the paint evenly. Apply liberally to ensure complete coverage of the surface.
- Ideal application temperature: 15-25°C.
- Do not apply below 10°C, in high humidity, or when rain is imminent.
- 1 coat is usually sufficient. Apply a second coat only if necessary.
- Touch dry in approximately 30 minutes, depending on temperature and humidity.
- Recoat after approximately 4 hours, depending on ambient conditions.
- Approximately 14 m² per litre per coat, depending on surface absorbency.
- Once fully dry, the surface can be washed with a mild detergent to keep it clean.
