Preparation
Ensure all surfaces are properly prepared before painting to achieve good adhesion and a smooth, durable finish.
- Surfaces must be clean, dry, and free from wax, grease, and other contaminants.
- On previously painted surfaces, remove any flaking or loose paint by scraping or using Rustins Strypit Paint and Varnish Stripper.
- When applying to metal, remove any rust using a scraper or Rustins Rust Remover, then apply one coat of Rustins Red Oxide Metal Primer.
- When applying to bare wood, apply one coat of Rustins Quick Dry Primer and Undercoat before topcoating.
Application
Stir well before use to ensure an even colour and consistent finish. Apply in suitable conditions and work methodically to achieve a smooth, durable result.
- Apply liberally and evenly using a synthetic fibre brush for best results.
- A short-haired varnish roller may be used for larger areas, but brush application is recommended for the finest finish.
- Apply 3 coats on new or bare surfaces; 2 coats are usually sufficient on previously painted surfaces.
- Touch dry in approximately 30 minutes, depending on temperature and humidity.
- Allow a minimum of 2 hours between coats, depending on temperature and humidity.
- Apply ideally between 15-25°C.
- Do not use below 10°C or in conditions of high humidity.
- Coverage is approximately 13 square metres per litre per coat, depending on surface absorbency.
