Overview

Johnstone’s Trade Stormshield Stabilising Solution is a high-quality, penetrating primer designed for use on friable or highly porous exterior masonry surfaces. By binding and sealing unstable substrates, it creates the ideal base for water-borne topcoats such as Johnstone’s Trade Stormshield Smooth Masonry, Textured Masonry, or Jontex High Build Masonry Finishes. Suitable for a wide variety of substrates, including concrete, cement render, brick, stone, blockwork, and pebble dash, this solution ensures long-lasting adhesion and durability. Offering coverage of 6–8m² per litre, it is recoatable after 16–24 hours under normal conditions.

Preparation

• Ensure surfaces are clean, dry, and properly prepared.
• Apply evenly with a brush or roller.
• Allow 16–24 hours drying time before applying topcoat.
• For best results, finish with Johnstone’s Trade Stormshield Pliolite Based Masonry Finish.

Application

• Ensure all surfaces are clean, dry, and sound before application.
• Stir well and apply evenly with a brush.
• Allow to dry fully before applying Stormshield topcoats.
• Follow Johnstone’s Trade Technical Specification and BS 6150:2019 Code of Practice for best results and long-term protection.
