Overview

Bradite Acid Etch TA37 is a biodegradable mineral acid solution formulated as a pre-treatment for bare concrete floors. Containing less than 9% hydrochloric acid in water and wetting agents, it effectively removes excess lime and laitance from power-floated or very smooth concrete surfaces, opening up the surface profile to significantly improve the adhesion of subsequent floor coatings.

Suitable for use prior to all Bradite floor coatings, TA37 is a straightforward and effective way to prepare concrete floors that would otherwise be too smooth or non-porous for paint to bond correctly. With a coverage rate of 20m² per litre and no odour or tainting during use, it is well suited to both commercial and industrial environments.

Manufactured under ISO 9001:2015 and ISO 14001:2015 certified management systems, Bradite Acid Etch TA37 is supplied ready to use and requires no mixing or dilution.

  • Removes excess lime and laitance from smooth concrete surfaces
  • Opens up the surface profile to ensure subsequent coatings bond correctly and durably
  • Specifically formulated for non-porous and very smooth concrete floors
  • Proven effective on surfaces that are otherwise difficult to coat
  • No odour or tainting during application - safe and comfortable to use in enclosed or occupied environments
  • Environmentally considerate formulation
  • Supplied ready for use with no mixing or dilution required
Area Interior & Exterior
Recommended Use
  • Power-floated concrete floors prior to painting
  • Very smooth or non-porous concrete surfaces requiring improved coating adhesion
  • Bare concrete floors with excess lime or laitance present
  • Commercial, industrial, and warehouse floors prior to application of Bradite floor coatings
Base Water-Based
Coverage Up to 20m2 per litre
Drying Time 10 to 20 minutes to react
Recommended Coats Two or more applications may be required depending upon the amount of laitance present.
Application Method Soft brush (do not use a sprayer)
Clean Up Clean all equipment with clean water immediately after use for best results.

Preparation

Ensure the concrete surface is bare, clean, and free from oil, grease, and contamination

Clean and degrease thoroughly using Bradite Industrial Degreaser TD39 or by steam cleaning prior to application

Do not apply to painted, sealed, or previously coated surfaces

Application

  • Do not dilute - product is supplied ready to use
  • Apply evenly to the concrete surface using a soft brush
  • Allow 10 to 20 minutes for the acid to react with the surface
  • Two or more applications may be required depending on the amount of laitance present
  • Once the reaction has taken place, rinse the surface thoroughly with clean water to remove all loose particles and soluble salts
  • Continue rinsing until the surface shows a neutral or weakly alkaline pH when tested with litmus paper
  • Allow the surface to dry thoroughly before vacuum cleaning to remove all dust
  • Proceed with floor coating application once the surface is completely dry
  • Do not spray - this product must not be applied by spraying under any circumstances
  • Clean all equipment with clean water immediately after use

Aftercare & Storage

After Treatment

  • Ensure the surface is fully dry and vacuumed before applying any floor coating
  • Test pH with litmus paper to confirm the surface is neutral or weakly alkaline before proceeding
  • Do not allow foot traffic on the treated surface until it has been rinsed, dried, and coated

Ongoing Floor Maintenance

  • Once the subsequent floor coating has been applied and cured, maintain as directed by the relevant Bradite floor paint datasheet
  • Re-treat bare concrete areas if the floor coating is removed and repainting is required

Equipment Care

  • Clean all brushes and equipment with clean water immediately after use
  • Do not allow product to dry on equipment or tools
