Preparation
For the best results always thoroughly prepare the surface. Ensure the surfaces to be painted are clean dry and free from dust, dirt, grease and wax.
- On previously painted and glossy surfaces remove all loose or flaking paint and rub down with an abrasive paper.
- Areas affected by mould should be treated with a suitable fungicidal wash.
- Bare steel - remove any rust and dirt and apply Bedec Water-Based All Metals Primer.
- Pressure treated timber - should be weathered for at least six months prior to painting.
- Weathered wood - should be abraded to allow for maximum penetration.
- New planed, finished wood or PSE wood - should also be abraded to open the grain and allow maximum penetration.
- Block any staining or any knots with Bedec Stain Block.
Application
We always recommend testing a small inconspicuous area to ensure you are happy with the finished results.
- Stir well and only apply when temperatures are above 8°C.
- Apply by brush, roller, conventional H.V.L.P or airless spray, do not over spread.
- Spraying will considerably reduce the coverage rate depending on the type of spray equipment used.
- Apply two to three coats, allowing each coat to dry for four hours before applying the next.
